In 1972, Jean-Claude Gautrand (born in 1932) shot a series of images of the deconstruction of a famous market hall in Paris, the “halles de Baltard”. The series is titled “l’Assassinat de Baltard”.
These images are enormously striking: the elegance of the steel construction amidst the power of the explosion, the play of light in the dust clouds.
